The first module of the 3-day SciProMEC 2021 workshop on capacity building was officially launched by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Buea on 05 May 2021. The objective of this module was to set the foundation for the integration of Molecular Biology in research for early-career researchers with limited background in Molecular Biology. Lectures on the Central Dogma of Molecular Biology, application of Molecular Biology in Clinical Research as well as Polymerase Chain Reaction, Primer design, Gel electrophoresis, Gene cloning, Protein expression & Purification, and Western blotting techniques were delivered to the participants. These lectures were accompanied by hands-on training at the Molecular and Cell Biology Laboratory, Biotechnology Unit.
